What's happening inside those eggs today?
25 hours: The heart begins to form.
33 hours: The ears begin to form.
42 hours: The heart starts to beat.
Starting at noon
The head begins to turn onto its left side.
The tongue begins to form.
The amnion completely surrounds the embryo.
The tail has appeared.
Wing and leg buds are visible.
Soon other organs such as the liver, kidneys, and lungs will appear.

WOW! Thank you! My kids are learning so much! I am so glad Hubby said yes, he's the city man who got stuck with a latent country girl. We have been married 27 years, and only had a hobby farm since 1999! There was a cat and two dogs to start...OMGosh now there's horses, sheep, rabbits, ducks and chickens! Poor poor man! He never knew what hit him. Now we have a daughter who wants to be a vet! HAHAHAHAHAH

We are getting a new barn built, and yesterday they poured down the concrete. I have these 7 chickens who cant get enough of people, and I always notice them out with the barn builders.
Well today when i went out to see it all, i noticed the concrete had a bunch of chicken foot prints all over it.

When they noticed me laughing, they came over and said the chickens were out there having a blast in it.

That just made my day lol thank you for shareing , just make sure you dont end up with a half buried chicken in set concreat

Here are my silkie eggs that I set on 12/11 at 5:00 PM PST..(I was at work at 12:00)

The eggs were purchased and shipped to me from Catdance Silkes. They all arrived intact and were beautifully wrapped. This is my first time incubating shipped eggs so not sure what to expect but I am
hoping for a great hatch %.

That's a nice flock. Do you free range? They tend to find unusual places to lay. Ours tend to lay up in the hay mow, or under a hay feeder.

funny you mention that, my icelandic's rarely lay in the rest box, they usually always lay in the shavings!

Ok time for a blonde moment question. I can not figure out the celeberty look alike contest to save my life I have looked at the rules but I must be missing soemthing becuaes I dont get it . Are we sapose to post a pic of a chick that looks like a celeberty , a pic of a celeberty that looks like one of our chicks ????????????????

I've heard this too. Never tried it though.

I use a un petroliated (sp) jelly. I am always afraid of them eating it, so I use this product instead. The only down side is, that they get a lot of dirt or bedding on the comb, and you need to clean it off, or it can irritate the tissue.
