I moved two from the bator to the brooder this morning! I actually moved 3, but one still had a bit of umbilicus hanging and the others thought it was a worm and started playing tug-o-war with her! I felt it best to put her back in the bator till it dries up a bit more. The other two pushed their way into the little flock and settled right in... 20 in the brooder now.
My mystery chick is doing well, but her belly is still pretty big. She can sit upright, but not move around much, so I left her in the bator too.
My two little black and white chicks are still working at hatching. One is ready, just tired, so I'm giving her time. The one that pipped on the wrong side is still absorbing her yolk sac... I would have left the other chicks I the bator too, but the two were so active, they were climbing from basket to basket, and one of them was walking all over my little one still trying to absorb her yolk. Because of where she pipped, I had to remove half of the shell the long way, so her abdomen is not well protected... They both seem strong and are breathing regularly, so I'm really hoping they'll be ok. I have to leave for work in an hour, and I'm debating whether to try to take the bator with me... It's a long drive though, and I know the temp will drop... But I'll be gone for 10 hours!!!
hehe... at this hour, I don't blame you.Apparently, I'm too tired to do simple addition.... 16 + 2= 18..... 18 chicks in the brooder... 4 still in the bator.....
Wow, you have had a stressfull hatch! Do you have any of those hand warmers that you could put in the bator? or perhaps some water bottles filled with hot water?I moved two from the bator to the brooder this morning! Right now it is raining and 43 degrees. Not complaining we need the rain. Very badly. Had a drought here this year. Alot of ponds dried up and people either had to lower their wells or drill new ones. Thank God I did not have to. Lucky mine is deeper than most in our area. How is the weather in Cali?Good morning! How's the weather in Georgia?
