That's great! Looking forward to pics!I have good news to report!!
1) I am officially done with the NYD hatch !!
2) All 4 of the chicks that were still in the bator as of my last post have made it! I put the one with the stringy umbilical stuff in the brooder before I left because it had dried up nicely. My mystery chick still has a big belly but she's strong and does well in the little box I made for her. The two black and white chicks are out and strong and drying off.
I did bring my bator to work with me... I'll post pics when my iPad charges up!
I wouldn't worry about it to much my later hatchers often dont start to walk till they are fully fluffed upSo my strange little guy finally hatched a few hours ago... but most of my chicks within an hour of being hatched are up and walking around the bator.... (or the grey one, who hatched, rolled over, and walked away... xD) but this little chick just kind of lays there on his side... I've been watching him for three hours now... he just kinda lays there chirping... and sometimes kicks his legs out.. what's wrong with him? I gave him some brown sugar water, as I read that was supposed to help... he swallowed that down, but he's still just laying there.. he's gone poo... but can't seem to stand up...Is there anything I can/should do for him? Right now he's in the bator where he's warm, and away from the older chicks...
Oh, that's a relief to hear. I was worried something was wrong with him.I wouldn't worry about it to much my later hatchers often dont start to walk till they are fully fluffed up
Poor little thing. I had something like that last year, I waited 2 days and it just couldn't get up. I finally started physical therapy, lol. I 'd hold her upright and let her feet push against my other hand or a table. I did this over and over and she finally after a day was able to walk. She was slow to get going, but once she did she caught up with the others real fast. Cochins 1444 (?) had a chick yesterday with trouble standing, perhaps she could offer some help?So my strange little guy finally hatched a few hours ago... but most of my chicks within an hour of being hatched are up and walking around the bator....
