Thanks! I am not sure on the exact total as 2 are zipping right now (I think zipping..is that when they have a line all the way across the middle?) but I set 9 Silkie and 11 Silkie cross for a total of 20....I am so excited and even more excited now to have the possibility of such a great hatch as my first one!

Raven..that baby does look like a maran doesn't it? I know my friend has one rooster left after a dog attack, an Australorp, with a lot of red sex link hens. I think..he has a barred rock hen too.
I was thinking that it looked like a marans, and thought I need to ask him if he has one, or had one before the attack. I got the eggs before 10 days were up since the attack. So, what ever he had..I just don't recall a Marans.
Cute baby. :)

I got a sizzle chick! and 2 more pips!! so happy!

What a good mommy Prim is!
She is awesome!! We changed the bands on the babies tonight, and took some pics. She went NUTS when we took them out of the brooder!

I could always drive the hour to your place and give you some of mine ;)
I may just take you upon that!! What do you have??

Oh Razadia, I am so sorry that the last hope didn't make it. :hugs

X2...

My batch is stalrting to hatch! I have 2 chicks healthy as of yesterday, day 21. The other 7 are still no pip. They were rocking and rolling until they got bulldozed by the 1st hatcher. Now nothing, should i be worried? I was gonna give the hatchers a day or so then move em to the brooder, i don,t want to open bater & risk the others that haven,t even pipped. Help!

Yes, I'm looking for something. Was hoping a local shop could make me a nice custom fit tin pan, but they are all idiots there and apparently can't even check their email until Monday so I'll look elsewhere. The issue is that the space is an odd size so it's proving difficult to find something that will work.
Is it a Maran?
How big are Emus? I keep thinking they are huge and picturing Elf from the Christmas movie. LOL
My recollection from years ago is that Ameraucanas are feisty. In my brooder, one chick will grab another chicks foot and go running backwards with it dragging the chick and then all the rest dive in. Nasty lil peckers!

Good for you on not giving up. Chalk it all up to experience!
You could always put tile on the bottom so everything just wipes out. That also makes it so you can mop or spray it out if need be.
