Adding to the LGDs here.

Clementine @ 8 months old. She'll be 10 months on December 6th. :)

I just checked the set date for Guineas & it says 26 days but I was told 28. Can someone please confirm which is correct so I know which day to set or if I need to go ahead & set them now instead of waiting for the contests & hatch-along. I don't want them to get too old before I get them set.

I already have to fire up at least 1 more bator for the hatch-along because I set Christmas Quackers before I saw this. Now I need to know if I'm going to end up with a 3rd bator going as well.

There's no time for a test hatch!!! They won't hatch before the set date!!! We're a week and a half away, and I don't know if I'll get eggs! I'm getting nervous, LOL

Like cochins1088 is implying, it'd probably work if you get a good thermostat and hygrometer so you can keep the temperature under control. Run the machine at least a week ahead of time so you can make adjustments until it runs at a constant temperature. If like at my house, your house gets colder at night, I found adding a blanket on top of the right thickness keeps the temperature steady in the incubator. I checked my thermostat by also putting a medical thermometer wrapped up in a couple of zip lock bags of water (like a water blanket, with a rubber band around it to keep the thermostat nestled in there) Then after a few hours or so, checked my digital thermometer against the medical thermometer. I was lucky it ended up on the dot. It was a cheap digital. If not, you know what the difference is and what the digital should read (another thermometer reads 97 when it's 99 degrees, so I just aim for 97) I figure a thermometer would be easier to borrow than a whole incubator, and it would be more fun to hatch in the incubator you built anyway :D
It's not going to be a problem, as I have three Sportsmans and a HB....I've only turned on three of the 4...so far! LOL My plan is to start setting a batch every week, then I'll have babies hatching every week.

We are setting eggs on Dec, 11th, right or no?
That's great! I ordered one too and should be delivered on Friday!

Lovely LGDs. I would love to have several.

All the dogs are so cute. I have 2 but unfortunately one of mine is a bird dog and she likes to lick my chickens so she is only allowed to guard the coop when they aren't free ranging.

Eggs in one basket....hee hee.

Okay, I am making use of this new format with a pic. Yes, we were up before the dawn again and beat the hunters. Took this pic a little later when there was some light.

My Bella:

AWWW looks like a sheep!!!
Love that Bella!

Could have sworn I posted this once already but now I can't find it. Stupid computer must be doing it's "ghosting" thing again.

I have guinea eggs to set but when I looked at the chart it says they are 26 days & I was told 28. Can someone please let me know which it is!!! I already have to fire up a 2nd bator because I set a bunch of Christmas Quackers before I found this thread. Now I need to know if I need to fire up a 3rd if these eggs need to be in before the set date for the hatch-along.

Incubation time for guineas is 26-28 days. Mine have always hatched at 25-26 days - many people that I've talked to have had the same experience.
