Wow I hand feed baby birds befor cocktials and love birds mostly but tried to do a zebra finch once but it died. I did hand raise a baby rat from a pinkie she was probly a bit bigger then those guys that was hard finding ways to get milk in her mouth and not drown her .

I am still hopeing to get spent grain from the local breweries, would fermenting feed be to much wet food for them or would it be ok to have fermented feed and spent grain.
Also could someone post Step by step process in a Fermented grian for dummies type style , I have a really hard time understanding written instructions .

I do not dry feed at all

I do feed raw meats to brooder chicks
eggs, yogurts, spinach, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes..all kinds of things

Dry feed attracts rodents

Wet feeding they attack it and eat it all up, practically licking the plate

If any is left over you are feeding to much

At first watch them eat it and do not add any till it is all gone.

I feed twice a day in winter.
Show stock is fed according to schedule and weights
Broody's are fed according to eggs and chicks
Free range are not fed except in winter
Chicks are free fed unless with mom's

After first year of feeding FF I saved and average of $18 per bird for feed costs. $600.00 my first year

get a bucket
dump in grain
cover in water
add UPACV
stir 2x a day
If you take out 1 cup of feed you add 1/2 cup dry mix

recover with water
lightly cover top
there is a fermented feed link too
