Where are you located? Do you ship chicks? If you want to have some off your hands I might be willing to, you know, sacrifice some coop space for the lovelies.lol!
But then again if I have a really good hatch rate this time I don't think I could bc I just had 20 hatch today and yesterday then the 20 more! And I have a broody hen with 9 under her..
I am in East Bay California. I am definitely able to ship chicks but it depends on the weather and where you are. Let me know later on if you are interested :) I won't know how many I can promise anyways until after they hatch and I pick the ones I want to keep.

CLUCK-CLUCK!! Yes they are Trader Joe's eggs . I was told that they have notoriously bad hatch rates and I should set a dozen if I want 1 or 2. But I set 5 and ALL 5 ARE GOOD!

I did NOT plan on that happening but it is just fine!

I think it's harder to keep up with this thread this year than it was last... that, or I'm getting old!!!

I'm still EXTREMELY tempted to get out the bator and put in some Trader Joe's eggs.

I've gone from 22 hens to 22 hens and 37 chicks now so NO NEED TO INCUBATE!!!!

I'm a recovering Hatch-a-holic and now I need to learn to stay away from feed stores!!!!
SAVE A CHICKEN!!! HATCH AN EGG!!! Or two or three or 3 dozen.....

Oh, I've had VERY good hatchability with TJ eggs. Just too many boys last time, LOL. That and probably my first home made 'bator wasn't the most steady, still, out of 20 eggs set, 1 I broke, LOL, 1 was clear, the others all developed, and I hatched 13 in a home made 'bator :) Wow, and I only have 4 hens to show for all that

I am so excited about this hatchalong I cant wait to set my eggs. Its a good thing I only have my mini going , I was trying to find replacement parts for my LG but Im so mad at that thing I want to toss it out a window , Im definalty not mechanicly inclined otherwise I could spiff it up or even use some of he parts on a diy bator so it sits in my closet takeing up space

I was just wondering what everyone uses to water there chickens? I have one of those you plug in to keep from freezing that thing is the biggest pain. I had to haul water twice today since i dumped the first one the red bottom will not stay on.  I cleaned the coop and brooder today the feed store was out of stall dry and pine shaving to so the girls got straw they love it lol I sit there for an hour just watching them cluck and fuss and scratch.

Ive had my still air little giant up and running for well over two weeks all of a sudden Ive started getting temp spikes as high as 107. I have no clue what is going on nothing has changed the temp in the room never varies more then 5 degrees the room is dry humidity stays around 40 percent.I just use it for hatching so hopefully I can get it figured out soon

We use those green bowls we get at the feed store that plug in. We get extension cords with 3 outlets and use 3 in the main flock and 1 in the other pens. Thy don't drink as much when it"'s cold out. I haul water out 2x a day in the Winter. It's a pain no matter what. The rest of the year I use those white and red ones or the metal ones and only fill them every few days.
