Gaaah! I'm so worried! None of my eggs are here yet I pray they get here so they can rest some!

Just got my big incubator fired up. This will be my second attempt at using it. My first I made the mistake of not testing the temp. after I bought it and just assumed the temp was what is said on the Gage. Well it was 10 degrees off so they all fried. This time I think I have the temp set right so hopefully it work like it is supposed to. I wanted to go all out and fill it up (it holds a little over 1000 eggs) but my DH had to be sensible and ruined my fun (ok, I wasn't really going to fill it up, what would have been a lot of chicks to sell for this time of year, but I did want to set more than the 4 dozen eggs he suggested). So I got a bit more than he said but didn't go crazy. But I am considering maybe getting some quail eggs as well, not sure yet. I won't say how many I set so I won't ruin the contest for how many eggs set.

I got one shipment of eggs today!!!  They look great!!! 

Still waiting for my mystery eggs to show up... 

I'm still waiting on my Welsummers.

Getting ready to set at 6 am tomorrow. I'm still missing about 60 eggs!! Ill have to get up around 5 to go to the PO tomorrow and get them and unpack an set them before leaving for work at 715 tomorrow. Ugh is this crazy or dedication?? LOL

I realize not everybody's eggs have arrived. Normally, shipped on a Saturday, they arrive on a Monday. I have eggs that were shipped to me on Friday that are not here yet. I'm going to set what I have and when the others get her, set them as well. Sorry.

On brighter note, when I went home at noon today, my bator temp was 99.7!!!

Look what Mother Nature brought us. It was only 4-5 inches so it was very workable, but it sure made everything pretty. It wasn't that cold today either; I think we got into the upper 20s.

*I've got most of my eggs ready to set on Tuesday. Mostly my mixes because most of my pures are not laying or in the case of my Orps, my roo is still too young to manage his girls. I've got some Appenzeller Spitzhauben over a Frizzle, AS mix and another mutt hen. Some eggs from my frizzled EE hen (she's with a Gold Brabanter). My splash Araucana has a bunch of different girls to choose from (all together for winter) and my mixed color pen of Silkies. I figured if I can get some pullets out of the chicks, I will be in good shape in the spring. Maybe a little crazy to over-winter them - but aren't we all!

need help....what is the ideal humidity in and around the incubator in a high elevation mainly dry area?
Have had trouble hatching, except in the spring time...

If having problems follow the instructions that came with you incubator. I usually will do a dry hatch, but right now a dry hatch is too dry. So I plan on watching closer and not letting it go below 26% and no higher then 36%

Hey folks!

I'm barely present right now, but I'll be joining in, as usual. This will be my last batch for a long while because I've got a burgeoning business, I've taken on my job full-time (since spring which is why I've been MIA) and now I'm having my elderly, blind, wheel-chaired Grama moving in with us...so it's been a whirlwind year!!

Anyway, I'll be setting some ducks, who will obviously hatch later, and I'll set a bunch of Chocolates: Marans, Silkies, Cochins, d'Uccles, Ameraucanas and Orps. I don't know numbers until I see what's been laid while I've been out of town the last 2 days, but I'll tell you when I know.

I have to clear the incubator of all the chicks in it right now...lots of Chocolates, some of Jim's (Iowa Blues plus some surprise eggs) he sent for MyABCs3 that I hatched for her, and some Konzas. I'm ready for a break, but felt like I needed to join you all!

btw- MrHeinz77- I need to know what in the world the unknown eggs were you sent MyABCs3 because they hatched while I was out of town and I can't tell who is what without knowing all of the options...I have too many variables in there of my own!!

Happy hatching, everyone, and don't forget to get your Ecoglow or Sweeter Heater for the chicks...it's the best thing for that brooding stage.
