I finally became a member of BYC a few days ago after seeing information about the 4th Annual BYC New Year Day Hatch-along. What FUN!!! As a new member, I had no idea how very additive BYC is and very exciting to see what other people are doing. It occurred to me last night how lucky I am to have an automatic egg turner. I grew up on a 100 acre ranch in Texas and remember my Mother turning eggs in our “little brown hen” incubator. Loved seeing the chicks hatch as a child and very exciting to share this with my own children.

Welcome GreenRising.

Yes, BYC is very addicting. We are glad to have another to share with.

i just received a beautifully packaged (as usual) box of gorgeous eggs from mrheinz77! They are in fabulous condition and are resting a bit before going into the incubator with my other 8 eggs. i will have to take a new photo showing the additional future chicklets

BTW Jim, I need a new cheat sheet - some of these aren't on the old one I have

I'm jealous! I don't think my eggs are going to arrive. He shipped on Saturday, and the last update was the day that they were supposed to arrive here, and nothing showing that they ever even arrived at the next stop (just a departure from sort facility). :(

None of my Calls are laying! You could look on the "Poultry - Other Birds & Hatching Eggs" section here on BYC. I thought I saw an ad for Call duck eggs the other day. Anyway, worth a shot. : )

Don't give up yet! One of my orders of eggs arrived today. It was shipped out on the 8th, was supposed to deliver on the 10th, didn't update for a couple of days and now it's here! In good shape too! Keeping my fingers crossed for your's!
Was there a big gap in the updates on delivery confirmation? At this rate, I just might have quail eggs to set for NYD hatch, lol. That's if I'm lucky and they don't sit lost for another week or never arrive.

I'm sure it will get there any time. Fpr 2 days my DC# showed it was in MN until this morning when it suddenly showed it "out for delivery" about an hour before my postman showed up (love him BTW, he knows I get eggs and takes fantastic care of my packages on his end). Usually when Jim ships me boxes on Saturday they arrive on Monday. That's Iowa to California! This is probably the first time that it has taken much longer - I'm sure due to the holidays. Keep up hope - they'll show up soon

OK, I did set 40 Iowa Blue eggs last night, but haven't posted yet. Taking a picture of them in the Reptipro was not very effective so I need to try again. I also don't like how it fluctuates temps so wildly. I have 4 thermometers and they all say something different. I got it because it was supposed to be better insulated against external temp changes, but bouncing back and forth from 98 - 101 seems a bit extreme. I really should tough it out and see how it goes, but I have my Genesis running empty right now and it's steady as always. I may chicken out and move most of them.
Wouldn't that be "chicken out & chicken in ", or even just Chicken INN..., or oh never mind I can't think of anything relevant for B&Bator...<ducking now , get it>

odd am, lacking coffee, sorry...
