button quails take 16 days so would i set them sunday?
Yes, Sunday. If you can at all do it, I left the buttons in the hatcher with food and water for the first week, no drafts or anything could get to them. All the ones that hatched made it when i did that. they are so small when they are born its amazing.
Hello? CPL you out there?
She said she went to do chicken chores, bet she will be back soon.
Are there any tricks to candling quail eggs???
There are a few tricks. All I can tell in quail eggs are chick and no chick. At about 5-6 days I candle with a 200-400 lumes flashlight. If you can see the top of the egg, or it looks blueish, there is not anything in there. If it is starting to go dark, there is chick. Quail eggs are hard to see but very forgiving to hath as long as they do not dry out too much. If you have a quail egg you did not put in the incubator, or can get some from the store, you can candle it to see what no chick should look like so you are not fooled by a yolk.
I'm going to post the best homemade candler ever once DH sees if we can put 3/4 pipe on it instead of 1". It is customizable by egg type.

Thought for the day: where do they make cochins and silkies that don't go broody? Sparkles does not believe they exist. ( but she will take their eggs if they do)
