4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

I actually love our smoothes. Will pull pictures of the colored smoothes we have as well and share soon. Feel free to ask away about them, love talking goose and all things curly too.

hatching tray dividers. Cardboard can go funky in a damp environment. You know the plastic canvas craft stuff? (has itty bitty holes for lacing crafts) you can trim to size and use zip ties to hold it together to make dividers. they can be cleaned and reused.

Just checked eggs and I had to toss out three more..ugh
The rest look good I think and I put in a few more of my own just in case. Is it normal to have heavy coloring on the bottom of the egg? In some of my shipped egg there is good veining at the top, the bottom looks dark. I have three of those.

Great suggestion. I have a couple of those plastic baskets that I store pens in, those would work.

Are sebbies aggressive? Do you show?

Anyone know anything about paypal and ebay? I had a purchaser for a $16 item (free ship), and I was sent $14.78. I looked, thinking "wow, are the fees really that much on paypal?!" but there were no fees taken from the payment. They did an instant payment through paypal, but I'm still not sure where the rest of it went? The paypal fees should have been $0.78 for that order, so, umm, where did the other $0.44 go? Not that $0.44 is that big of a deal, but if that's going to be a recurring thing, then I'll need to adjust my prices to account for that. :/
Maybe it was the fees for ebay.

Oh WOW! I love this picture! So glad you got what you wanted for Christmas! (Even if you picked them yourself)
I'm thinking my hubby needs a new incubator.....are we all in agreement?.
Go for it!!! You can always say it was my idea like the kids wanted to do with the NYD hatch eggs!!!

Hubby is so lucky we don't live on a farm... I would have ducks and geese, and peafowl and maybe some turkeys. Now he complains about my chickens. If he only knew what is coming when we move to a farm.

(That is just the birds... I also will have horses, and goats, and cattle, and bunnies and....

Yes, I am a farm girl stuck in town. LOL Planning on moving back to the country in the next few years.... the sooner the better. My neighbors might put up with a few chickens in the backyard, but I don't think they would appreciate ponies.

Can't wait for more pictures! :D I currently use paper towels in the bottom of the tray, since they sure are messy little buggers when they hatch. I figured cardboard could just be tossed with each hatch. I like the idea of reusable though... Do you have any suggestions for free or very cheap lining that won't cause splay leg in just hatched chicks? It's harder for me to clean the galvanized steel and wood, and I'm afraid I'm going to ruin it in the long run if it's washed every few days. :/

Oh, and that last post was brought on by me drooling over these guys. (And I always said I didn't like geese. Whenever I see pics of these, I change my mind a little more. lol )
