Yeah I figure they were ducklings from a hatchery at the feed store and were an impulse buy/for a kid... then when they became inconvenient the people 'set them free' at the pond. Works fine until the pond freezes and anyone's dog can catch/kill them all. That is if they don't starve first! Some people just don't think. I'm glad to have them and I hope to have the girls laying soonlikely from a hatchery and there are variances in them. We had a set from Metzers and one drake looked like those the other was more to standard.

ONLY... my dog tends to eat two cups of dog food a day... lol. They only eat about a lb of kibble a day...they are very low energy, which is I think why I like them. I can't handle high energy dogs. One of our dogs is actually a 70lb mutt and sheesh...;SO much more effort to deal wiht him. He is way to agile and smart and energetic.
Congrats! Soon you'll have new babies againHang in there!
Have you tried Craig's list?Think if it was well done you could get on the "Best of" list

Hey that's not bad! My 145 lb LGD eats about 5 cups a day, little more in winter and a little less in summer. They only eat about a lb of kibble a day...they are very low energy, which is I think why I like them. I can't handle high energy dogs. One of our dogs is actually a 70lb mutt and sheesh...;SO much more effort to deal wiht him. He is way to agile and smart and energetic.
Nice! Yeah my friend who works for Parks/Rec who brought them to me has a female from this group, and she gets a green egg every day. I'm wondering what kind of pen/house set up I should start building for these guys? They will lay a good sized egg too! Congrats on taking them in. Our 6 live with a 4H family who have geese from us also and wanted a pet flock of ducks. Was a perfect fit.
