Thank you so much. This was my very first shipped egg hatch.

I have been raising chickens for over 30 years and without BYC I would of never heard about shipped eggs. I rarely use an incubator that is plugged in anymore. This was such an experience. I just want to say a special thank you to all the posters that made this fun, funny, and a positive motivation for me to now add silkies. (We do not have show stock/potential in our area that I can find). So I will be joining the Easter hatch with silkie eggs if I can find them.

Thank you all.

Thank you all.

I hear emvickery has some really nice Silkies. I have Silkies, but they are on strike at the moment & my roos are a Showgirl, a Sizzle & a Sizzle Showgirl over mostly SQ regular bearded Silkie hens. Other than my blue/black pen which is covered by the Sizzle Showgirl roo the other 2 pens are mixed colors so you never know what color you will get from those.

Oh thank you! My DH loves silkies too. He said for show and yard ornaments.
They are just irresistible

I used to think Showgirls were so ugly too. Then my daughter dragged 1 home from a swap meet & we were hooked. I had hatched a little EE/Turken a month or so earlier & it was the 1st chick we sold. Everyone wanted them & I couldn't get naked necks in fast enough.

Oh that's a gorgeous picture! Love it! I hope you'll post here when they start laying, but especially when they grow up! HRIR are so beautiful!

Thank you all.

Isn't this community fun?! When my husband finally said we could have chickens, I turned to the internet for guidance, not the library, not a book store, and found this website and community in no time! And I still remember when people said "what do you need a computer for?" ROFL, Life is good!

Good morning all! So how many of you hatch-aholics have another batch cooking? I'm going to start collecting for my Valentines day hatch pretty soon. Although come to think of it, last year I had a Ground Hog Day hatch. I have some Silver Penciled Rock/Iowa Blue eggs on hold, maybe I should stick them in.
