adding this is why I ALWAYS mark the air cells, so I can WATCH those odd balls!

Absolutely adorable! I love Anconas & the kids' sound effects were so cute. You would actually be ok even giving them a couple more inches of water so they can really dive since you sit right there with them. If you want a real show, dice up a handful of frozen mixed veggies kinds small & toss them in. They will go nuts!!!
There's nothing happier than a duck in water. Just watch the little tails wiggleWhere is the "big-light-bulb-clicking-on" smilie? I have NOT been able to figure out why this happens! Problem solved. WIll switch feed immediately.
Nice set up! They look totally thrilled, well actually they look a little camera shy, but they will be thrilled!
There isn't anyone on here that will tell me ducks don't get happy is there? I made a comment to my DH about how happy the ducks were with their new pool and he looked at me like I was nuts. I mean come on. Does anything look happier than a duck with a nice fresh pool of water?
On wire works well also. I won't brood ducks anywhere else any more. Too much mess. You must have them! but not until you can have them OUTSIDE!!! LOL OUT OUT! O U T OUT!
You can boil them for a few minutes to soften them as well since this will be their 1st veggies. They likely won't have any problems but I like to give them softer stuff the 1st couple times.will do veggies tomorrow eve!! cool!
I like the questions to , I was gonna add to my post but my son decided to be needy for attention, now that he is in bed though I was gonna add is there any way we could figure out like the top ten questions and have us answer them then make it a sticky thread thats always here on top for people that need answers when there arnt alot of us around at the moment.I like it when people ask questions and give good descriptions of what they are doing. It is easy to forget that not everyone knows things that I consider the basics. I am always learning and asking questions is how we learn.
I feel kind of bad about not figuring out the Calcium and rooster dieing that Sally Shunshine had at the beginning of the hatch-a-long.
I hope we have helped her now!
I think one should try to feed it out within 4 days, that's what I read somewhere, but I don't think it really goes bad. If you made a mistake by fixing up a huge batch, you could store some of it in the freezer (or outside if it's really cold where you live) I don't see why it wouldn't last forever that way!I'm on my phone and cant figure out how to multiquote. So...chookschick I'm sorry about your grandma that must be so much stress. But yes you are crazy! And I totally support your chicken addiction. ..as long as you share those project eggs!
I spoke too soon..my ff is very fermented now. Lol so how long can in stay fermented in there before its bad.
I'm glad my dogs not the only weirdo that likes chicken feed!
Congratulations Razadia! I'm sure your really relieved! I know it was bothering you a lot and this hopefully takes that weight off your shoulders!I have some really good news involving the chicken ordinance that suddenly showed up last month! After a slight headache and about 20 mins of work I figured out where I stand. I can continue to raise birds for the rest of my life like I wanted to with no restrictions! I finally made sense out of the crazy zoning laws we have and found out that my entire district falls under both Residential Agriculture and General Agriculture. That means I'm doubly safe with my birds. I'm so relieved to find that out.
My Aunt told me my grandfather used to take a rolling pin to them and crush them all small (I'd do that in a plastic bag so you don't make a mess?? LOL. I haven't actually done it yet... but I have dried shells waiting to be useddo I just dry out shells and then crush them good? I dont want egg eaters
Oh my gosh, those ducklings are dangerously cute!!!! Oh my! I'm lucky there is no way in the world I can keep ducks here because otherwise.....I'd be in trouble! LOL
