Trying to keep the temp steady with this trial hatch while heating with a wood stove is proving to be a chore and a half good thing I'm not sleeping much lately.

You should probably start saving eggs about a week out. They should develop at home a week old easily.

another question.. what is the best way to store the eggs before they go into the incubator?

Quote: the only other time i have hatched I was told to put them in a room that is 65 'F. If you dont have somewhere like that then wrap the egg carton with eggs in it with newspaper. put the eggs on one side of the cooler. on the others side put a covered up icepack (we fill up empty juice bottles and freeze them). put a thermometer in and make sure it stays around 60- 65 'F hope this helps!

Personally I have a few egg cartons in the kitchen on top of my island/chest freezer and they sit at room temperature until I set them. I have a really good hatch rate this way. Unless your kitchen is REALLY hot then it shouldn't be a problem at all.

my problem right now is keeping them warm enough without being too warm ;-) There's no heat in my kitchen so it's really cold in there. Thinking of bringing them into the living room and just making sure they aren't too close to the stove!

Eggs have been hatched out of the refrigerator that are 2 weeks old. I think that you should put them where you are comfortably, not going to worry, and they won't get knocked over/sat on.

officially signed up,,,,,with all these contest, I must go get a camera other than my phone, i get good pictures with bad quality with a phone.....pppssstttt...don't tell my city friends, but I have an annoying habit of making an oj and vodka then taking a bucket out to the pens to turn upside down and just sitting there quietly.....i get some very strange pictures once they stop paying attention to me..

hahaha I have a phone that takes okay pics. I have to sit there trying to get it to focus. by the time its focused, the cute scene i wanted to capture is gone

thats why I am going to buy myself a camera for Christmas. But i might need it sooner for the contest
