The Sebastopol geese are still laying though, so the first two eggs werent a fluke and we have 1 girl laying every other day with a couple more who started playing house with their nest yesterday.

Looking to see how many racks in the 3 cabinets we can fill up completely for the NYD hatch.

Woke up here in Ohio to 29* Was smart and empty all the waters so only had to fill which sucks need to break out more power or run some power to the coops.
Sounds like so many of you are setting tons of eggs. what on earth do you do with all the chicks after hatch? The feed bills much be enormous.
I too like small hatches, a lot of small hatches that is

I still haven't snatched up any eggs, if I don't find any, I will set anything my girls send me.
GOOD Morning! From chilly PA, looking forward to a day of thawing waterers.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I still have not received my shipped eggs the seller on Ebay wont respond to my emails asking them to check into it they were shipped on the 19th a week ago today how long are eggs viable for once they have been shipped? Ive seen anywhere from a week to 10 days up to 3 week really has me nerveous now to order eggs for the NYD hatch but I cant find any local eggs at all
You will probably get them today if you have a DC# . Track it.

We have finally moved up to 3 degrees from 1 degrees this morning. Windchills are still in the - teens. Yuk! This is January weather not November! I don't mind the 4" of snow on the ground (it makes it nice and bright outside), but the cold; no way! Where is Global Warming when you need it

It was around 10F with the wind chill this AM. Today and tomorrow aren't getting above freezing. I miss summer...

I miss summer too! It doesn't look like we have a chance of getting above freezing for a high until possibly Saturday. I am sure that will change too. They dangle the possibility ahead of you and then decide that they were wrong and we won't get above freezing until April.

Hopefully not, because that would make for an extremely long..... winter!

Last March we had a high of 86 believe it or not. In December we had highs in the high 60's early 70's. It was so weird. We've been lucky this year so far. Last week we almost hit 80.
