I dont know about finding a name but if you post a pic of your quail or quail eggs Im sure some of us may be able to tell you

Coturnix. Some of them can be spotted with the dark background, like those eggs. Those particular ones always reminded me of the seashell chocolates I always get around this time of the year.

I just match up addresses with locations for who is in the swap. My quail had an Alaska address, but shipped from California. Only 1 user on here I know with addresses both places.
mine had an Alaska return address and I honestly didnt pay attention to the sent from :( I can't seem to find the box...I think the hubby took it out to the trash.

When you're ready to know what they are let me know. Mine was the box with quail.

Okay... I think I should know, since I have not raised quaill before, I should ask. This way I can read up a little more and be prepared! They are in lockdown.....

Please tell me what kind of quail they are and are the other 2 eggs I have old english game bantams? eeeeek. The suspense is killing me!

LOL! I'm the exact same way! In real life, everyone always knows when I have a surprise. I've never been one to be able to hide what's going through my mind (part of the reason why I learned early on that lying doesn't pay off, lol). I do have some surprises for people, but I'm keeping my lips (and fingers) locked. Even my swap partner for a swap, I'm not saying a word unless they ask. When I do a mystery swap with eggs, I like to write in a letter how many days they take to hatch just so that they don't have to candle forever, plus how many eggs are in the box... I'm always afraid that I'm going to miss an egg and throw it away with the box!

Game bird starter , crunched up a little as cortunex babies are tiny, they need the same kind of heat and marbles in the water ect as other chicks, My last batch I brooded inside a barf bucket you get from the hospital that I put inside the big brooder box with chicken chicks .

In this is them with a normal sized chick feeder for size comparason

Bettacreek-
LOL! My mom hated shopping with me at christmas, I would always tell my brothers everything! I am a horrible liar as well for this reason! :)
Oh my gosh, I check the egg box like 5 times before I toss them, I even rummage through it one more time as I am walking it outside to the trash! Even the ones that come in cartons, I think to myself like really Tamryn 1 rolled out the taped, bubbled wrapped, more tape, shredded paper filled, more tape but going the other way now, super glued carton? Too funny!

Gabrielle1976-
Thank you for the info and pictures of your quail, I was thinking of putting the game bird starter in a food processor to make it nice and tiny! I was reading some people keep them in bird cages?
I love your idea about the bucket! I was wondering how I was going to house them to start. Is the yellow one a quail too in your picture? and the 2 white ones in the top picture? I have a couple day old silkies, do you think I should give the quail one for a day or two to help them figure things out? I am used to giving all the newbies a "friend for the first day" if I have them, even the guineas and the salmon faverolles must have a friend for the first 24-48 hours, they are not the brightest!
