Okay this hatch just got real! The first two babies popped out about 10 mins ago! We have #11 Bell @TwoCrows who hatched first, and #18 Yankee Doodle @urlocalcrazychickenlady was out within 2 mins of Bell hatching!!

Bell is the white chick and Yankee Doodle is black!

We also have more pips! Overnight these eggs pipped:

Yankee Doodle and Bell, heading to the brooder! Yankee Doodle looks blue, which would mean that one or both of the lavender silkie boys is hiding blue under the lavender. (Because the mom is definitely black.) I don’t mind since this is a test hatch, and also since I am more working on my blue-egg project than actual SOP silkies. This is why test hatching is good (especially if you don’t want to do genetic testing for every bird you have.)

I am also very surprised by the coloring on Bell! She looks all white. But maybe other coloring will come in later Her mom is my frizzled satin laced project silkie hen who lays green eggs! This is the very first egg I have hatched from her. Was not expecting white! I will also attach pics of the moms of these two babies.
