"You're chickens are here" Wow really call at 5:30am? Lol guess I don't have to worry about them being on my door in the rain. They had me get them at the loading dock. That post office is awesome. The women there made me open a corner of the box so they could look at them. So they all arrived in great shape no losses. I got them from my pet chicken aka meyer hatchery. Meyer Hatchery was where they were mailed from. Thats a pic of the box they were mailed in. 8 chicks total. 2 cuckoo marans, 2 partridge rocks, 1 brown leghorn, 1 blue hamburg, 1 partridge silkie bantam, 1 blue silkie bantam. Very vigorous and eating and drinking well I can almost see them growing. I got grogel but found it wasnt needed as they ate fine. I put some sugar and vitamins in their water which is why the water looks green. Also have a Brinsea Ecoglow which simulates a hen they go under it and sleep, uses a 10th of the elctricity as a heat lamp. Plus have a heat lamp, white bulb for day, red bulb for night. Would I recommend mypetchicken and meyer yes I sure would if thats how the chicks normally are, and you want to know which hatchery to use, just based on this one experience I would say use them. Also I got a black Australorp chick from the feed store and a RIR chick. Pretty sure the RIR is a roo cause I can see the start of a comb on his head but dont know if thats not just normal for the breed. But if so he should be a very happy boy when he grows up with all those hens.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

aww that is great, they are SO cute. I had to go mail some stuff yesterday, told the post office I was expecting them and she said they arrive early in the morning, and they can call as early as 7am when they open so I could come get them. I told them to call after 10am (I wasn't sure if they would get here today or tomorrow) but they came today too.

Lots of us with new chicks right now~

    Congrats!!

I got the Ecoglow from the Brinsea website was 59 I think but after watching how they use it like a hen I think it lessens their stress.

the bulbs you are using - the white is it a heat bulb - or a higher wattage incandescent ?

Very adorable! Never knew vitamins turned the water green. Are they formulated for chicks?
