Hi, My name is Terry and my family just bought 5 chicks that are a week old. We don't know their sex yet. We've never raised chickens but intend to see how we do with these first 5 and then begin to grow the flock. Hopefully, we'll do well enough we can fill up a 5 acre plot of land for all chickens. We kind of bought them impulsively... but kind of not. I looked into raising chickens off and on for the last 2 years... the only thing I never really did was actually go get the chickens. I'm the kind of person that does things and deals with whatever happens because I'll plan forever and do nothing. So I do things and hope for the best. So I got 5 chickens in a 10 gallon tank right now with a heat lamp. I'm not exactly sure what breed they are, but I was told they were a dual purpose type chicks which is great because we want eggs and love chicken... I look forward to great conversations and learning on this new journey.
