5 Chicks but don't know which are hen or roos

You did a fantastic job with the photos! Those a beautiful chicks!

It may be as long as 10-16 weeks before you'll be able to determine the gender of the chicks. The EE may be the hardest as they have small "pea" combs.

If the RIR begin to have reddish combs early (around 4-8 weeks) they're probably males, as the comb on males gets redder and larger much faster than it does on females.

Thank you so much @song of joy yeah I heard that the EE and the Silkie would be the hardest. Ha! and now I just found out that my Silkie is crossed with who knows what.. Also, I've heard that for the RR that females would have a black line on the back of there head. Is this true with every case? Neither of mines have any kind of markings on their heads.

@PapaChaz

Yeah, I just assume the ones I want to be girls are girls for now lol and since our kids wanted to start naming the chicks already we tried to keep the names neutral but my daughter was set on naming her chick (the light E.E) Princess so yes I am dying to find out if we will have a Rooster named Princess..

It happens. I had named one of my EE "Lady Amelia", but that changed to "Roo" around 14 weeks of age, and "Dinner" around 16 weeks of age.

I don't think that's true, as none of my female RIR had any type of black markings on the head. They were a solid buffish-red. I really hope you have several females in this batch! Let us know how it turns out.

Guys, this the bird i was talking about in my first post in this thread. I am not sure if it's a pullet or a cockerel. Can you guess? Thanks
