This was starting in one eye yesterday- now she’s keeping both shut? She can open one a little bit that I’ve seen but this explains why she’s almost never not under mama. Hatchmate is fine. There are only two of them, broody raised.

update- started electrolytes and nutridrench. She’s got some eye open and is moving around w her sibling, so that’s all improvement. Both eyes have some… goop? obstruction? I was not able to get w qtip and neosporin. One eye is much more affected.

Use some sterile saline or eye wash, and flush the eyes out. If it's stuck, a warm, wet compress can loosen it up. Possibly got some debris/dirt/bacteria in there during or after hatch. If you can get some terramycin eye ointment (many feed stores/tractor supply stores carry it), put a tiny dab in each eye a couple of times a day.

Thank you for this!

Did saline wash and am having to make due w neosporin but definite improvement and they’re following their family around now. So relieved. Will wash again in the morning.

You can also steep plantain and yarrow in warm water for like two hours, and put it on the eye with an eye dropper. Makes a huge difference.
