5 day old chick with weeping eye

I noticed today that one of my 5 day old chicks has an eye that is weepy and half closed. The other chicks are fine, and this chick's other eye is fine. No other symptoms. I wonder if it got pecked or injured. Should I do something to treat it?

I guess for now I would try some eye ointment .

What kind of eye ointment is ok for baby chicks?

I don't know. If I was in a bind to put something on it, I would smear some antibiotic ointment on it. Maybe a warm compress first.

the two chicks that ive had that have had that problem died a few days later, they were usually too weak to live..

Yes it actually did fine. I used triple antibiotic ointment on the eye for three days. It cleared up the first day and the chick was able to open the eye. No other problems since. I really think it just got pecked or something like that.
