I don't know what to do. I've cleaned this little guy/gals but a few times, but he doesn't seem to be getting better. He has what looks like poop stuck to his butt. He tends to just stand around with his eyes closed rather than run around with the 3 others in the box. I don't recall him eating or drinking much, and don't know how to get him to eat or drink. Also the poor guys little exit area looks like it's inflamed.

This is my first round of chicks, and also the first forum I've subscribed to. I'm sure this problem has been posted somewhere, but I'm not good at navigating through the topics yet.

If anyone knows how to help, I'd welcome any information.

sounds lik pasty butt. Keep cleaning the poo off the vent area and then put a little vaseline or veg oil on the area (to prevent more poo from sticking). Make sure you get it cleaned off or the chick will only get worse and die.

What do I do about it's red tushy? It looks like it's protruding... is it too late, or will the cleaning and Vaseline keep it alive. Also, it isn't eating/drinking much, and since it is only 5 days old, I'm not sure what to do. I can get a syringe and force feed it... maybe make it's food into a paste. I've read somewhere about yogurt - but I don't know if my little guy is old enough for that....
