After losing my 7 month old peachick to what may have been coccidiosis I have been treating my 5 adult peafowl with 1 1/2 tsp/gallon water for 5 days now in their drinking water. Their poo is still a runny black, some with a little white in it. Is there something else I should be doing? Was the dosage correct? Should I continue treating with Corid? They are eating well and not lethargic (just fighting these dang fleas and gnats which I am fighting with permethrin and Ivermectin.) Any advice regarding the black poo?

Sulfadimethoxine is a water soluble antibiotic you can get at your vet. It comes in powder or liquid form.

Adult peafowl rarely ever succumb to cocci, I have never treated adults for cocci. By the time winter sets in they have built up a resistance and I don't have to treat anymore. It could be the corid that is giving them the sh... black stools.

Thanks KsKingBee. I will stop treating with Corid and see if the black poo goes back to normal. If not, I will try sulfadimethoxine in the dosage you suggested.
