10LBS of food/week x 23 weeks is 230LBS of food.
25LB of food costs $8 $8 divided by 25LBS is $0.32/LB
$0.32/LB x 230LBS is $73.60
From what you posted, your neighbors were willing to pay for thier neglect. This is a great thing. You, too, seem to be a good neighbor by coming here to research the actual cost of replacing your birds so as not to rip them off. If you find that the food cost is incorrect the neighborly thing to do would be to let them know and adjust your totals accordingly.
