About two months ago I went out to the coop and found one of my hens dead. I thought It was just her age. Then two weeks later I found another one and it's been that way ever since. They look weak one day and there dead the next. I am afraid for my dogs and kids and I dont want to lose anymore of my birds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is very unlikely that anything is going on that could harm your kids or dogs. There are several things that can cause sudden death.

One thing you might consider is looking into having a necropsy done. If you do lose another, at least she can tell the story that way. Here is a link that might help you find your state vet for a necropsy. This is different in every state; in some states it's free, and often it's not very expensive. Your own vet might know how to get it done, too. Some want a live bird, some a dead one in a certain condition. It's best to know ahead what the local requirements are.

Here is a link that gives a pretty good overview of what all can go wrong:

Good luck.
