5 Little Ducklings Update :)

They're growing like weeds!!!

The big one is 22 days old, the 4 little ones are 19 days old. They are already getting their little feathers, too! They're eating like pigs and love bath time!

Here are pics from 1/17-18 and today...

And here is Kung Pao the little one that almost didn't survive.... She has to stand on the bowl to rest because she's so little compared to the 4 other ones.

Sadly, we have figured out that this bunch there are 3 males and 2 females. Hubby says NO males, so we have to give the 3 boys up

What kind of ducks are they?

3 weeks old is too early to tell gender unless they are muscovies or you had them vent sexed by an expert and even then the experts are not 100% on the mark.

Let's see- they're the Designer Ducks: Campbell, Buff, Swiss, and Cayuga.

When they "talk", some of their voices are turning raspy, while the 2 "girls" are loud as can be....

I wouldn't count on those voices just yet Hon. We've had quiet ducklings that turned into very loudmouthed girls LOL

Its funny- I have a brooder box with 6 ducklings right beside me at he computer- but I am still facinated and love looking at pics of other peoples ducklings..... They are adorable. And about the same age as mine too. They do grow fast........

I can hear the voice changing in some of mine already too- but I usually wait untill they are 6 or 7 weeks old to be completely sure of sexes. I just realised yesterday a little Black one ( 7 weeks old now ) I thought was a duck isnt.

I have enough drakes already picked out as keepers- I would have kept that one if it was a girl.

Well hopefully they will get their voices soon because we're taking them along with us to the swap.....just cant keep the males
