Hello everyone!

I posted a week or so ago regarding the sex of a few different chooks of mine. I managed to find good homes for all of them except I couldn't bring myself to let this guy/girl go just yet. Unfortunately, I can't keep rooster in urban area so really hoping this one is indeed a pullet.

He/she is so cute and always comes and gives me cuddles, jumps onto my lap and sleeps there and generally very charming chook.

I have taken a few more photos of him/her and any opinions as to whether he/she is a rooster or pullet. He/she hasn't started crowing at all either.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

While the bird is on the ground, can you place your hand on it's back and have it do the submissive squat? If so, that's a sign it's a girl. If not, it's a boy. At first glance I say girl but looking at it it could still be a boy due to the feathering. I had a rooster that gave me the hardest time because it was very docile and never crowed until it was almost a year old. The feathering on him suggested female as his feathers were not narrow pointed like most roosters but they were not quite round like a hens. *Fingers crossed* it does the submissive squat.

5 months is about laying time, so that may be why the comb is so red. Looks hen-ish to me, but you can't be positive with this one till it crows or lays an egg. Good luck! Very pretty chicken!

Do you know what breed it is? Overall I would say it looks like a pullet, I am not seeing saddle feathers.

At 5 months old it should be very obvious boy vs girl but not knowing the breed makes it a bit more difficult. If it is a blue Andalusian(hatchery stock anyhow) I would say for sure girl.

Unfortunately I have no idea of the breed! When I posted previously, some people suggested possible Australorp or Andulasian cross of some sort. We placed some fertilized eggs (from a friend who has many roosters and hens but isn't a breeder per se) under our Light Sussex hen and she ended up with a variety of colours including this little one :)
