5 Sebastapol eggs in the incubator!

How long can you keep the eggs out before putting them in the incubator? I wanted to hatch multiples at the same time rather than do a lot of staggered hatches.

Seems alot of members are seeing eggs already.

5 eggs went into the bator, 5 goslings came out!! YEA!

How many eggs will a goose lay in one season? Mine is up to 18 eggs since Dec 18. She may have laid more as we know predators took some when she moved her nest outside.

So far:
5 all hatched
8 - all developing in incubator
3 predator attack on eggs
2 newly laid

Congrats on the new gozzies. I think you have won the prize for the first gozzies of the new year. Are you keeping mom and babies in a predator safe house? I'd hate to see you come back and say what ever got the eggs got the goslings.

I hatched the eggs in an incubator and the goslings will be raised in the house for a while. It's still coold here so I can't imagine putting them out yet. The goose and gander go in at night and wander the barn yard by day. I think a skunk got the eggs at night.

Oh good I know your enjoying having those babies inside, take some pics to share we'd love to see We had 2 gozzies inside last June for 3 weeks before I let mama and papa have them it was messy but fun. Are you selling or keeping?
forgot to say My Toulouse laid in her first year 60 eggs last year she laid 30.

I want to keep two of these. The rest will be sold. Four are doing really well and the fifth came out if a really gunky slimy bloody shell so that one is having a rougher go. But it's chirping and trying to get going so as long as I don't disturb it and let it gain strength I think it still has a chance. I moved the four to another incubator for the night. They seem to do better staying really warm the first day. Once they stand up and look through the lid in the bator I move them to a large plastic container until they're able to jump out. This is the first time I've hatched this many at once. Two can be messy but 5 may put me over the edge. Lol. We'll see how it goes. I love how you can raise them and then let the parents take over.

I hope the 5th one makes it. They try so hard. Oh my gosh it's so awesome the way these geese love gozzies My gozzies weren't even my gooses goslings she had set on 8 eggs and only one made it to hatch and it died in the shell, so that morning when I didn't hear any more peeping I took out the egg and opened it, it was dead so I was heart broken Missy was still sitting on her nest I went to craigs list and found someone here in our small county selling ducks and on their web site they had geese listed so I called them and they had 2- 2 day old goslings in their brooder well off we went brought those 2 home but since she had just lost her baby I was kind of worried she wouldn't take to them right away and I have chickens and ducks in the mix and did not want to take the chance of something happening to these babies so in the house they came, which was so good because it gave us a chance to love on them and being June I would take them outside alot during the day first Missy wouldn't even get up but after about 3 days she could hear them and started looking out the door at them My gander was right beside her so neither one was in protective mode at this time. But after that first week when I'd take them out Missy would start to follow at a distance soon she was right by them so at 3 weeks I let the gozzies sleep in the house with them over night and that was that, They have bonded into a tight nit group of 4 and the gozzies are almost 8 months old and one is a gander. so I now have 2 gander and 2 girls we'll see how that pans out when mating season begins which should be anytime. I have even read of geese accepting older gosling too. My gander actually played papa goose to Muscovy ducklings way before he even had a goose partner. Please post pics when you can I'd love to see them. What part of the country are you in I know another member who is looking for a gander for her yearling goose maybe she'd be interested in a baby. She's in S. Calif.

Sometimes I think it's easy for the weak ones to fall asleep and die if there's no stimulation. He was in a little dish padded with a wash cloth so the others couldn't suffocate him. 3am check he was in the dish. 6am check he was strong enough to crawl out and was snuggled up with the other four.
