5 silkies!

I don't have silkies and don't know how in the world people sex them. I do have roosters. That looks like a comb injury from fighting. You did right to seperate them.
Clean it gently and take pictures of the injury. Apply some antibiotic salve. The kind without pain relievers in it. Put some electrolytes in water (you can find these at tractor supply) and also offer fresh water. Alternatively, you can give him some Nutri-drench, also found at Tractor Supply.
Monitor to make sure he is eating, drinking, and pooping.
Best of luck!

Also, my apologies if this is a stupid question but

also, and I’m sorry if this is a stupid question but do people only have roosters if they are trying to hatch chickens? Or is there another reason? I’m trying to figure out what to do if these are roosters. Thanks so much

Not a stupid question at all. You only need roosters if you are hatching eggs.
I have roosters because I enjoy them. They can also be great alert/alarm systems. I don't expect them to fight off predators. I just expect them to let me know when one is around.
I've given roosters to other people, who just wanted a rooster flock for lawn ornaments. They can be very entertaining.
