Yep, big comb and more white than black.. not to mention the 'clean' yellow legs. Definitely a he!

Can you explain what you mean by "clean" legs?

Well, he has his own private haram of 7 hens then. I'm keeping him in seperate pen from the other chicks (I am too attached to let him free range, plus he would try and follow me into the house). When I'm taking care of the other chicks, adults, and the goats he will follow me around the perimeter of the cage. When I go in there he immediately jumps onto my knee and roosts.

Given the size and redness of its comb at that age and the light barring, you have a cockerel. By "clean yellow legs" fshinggrl is likely referring to the lack of blackwash that BR pullets often (though not always) have on the front of their yellow legs. BR cockerels usually lack this blackwash.

Michael is correct! Barred rock hens will generally have black fronts to their legs instead of the bright yellow that your bird has.

Well, I have some good news.

JoJo was one of six BRs used as packing peanuts in a shipment of EEs. Turns out the other 5 are PULLETS!
