Hello,
What would cause my chick’s face to be red? It’s eating, drinking, active.
Just notice the left side of face is red. See photo
I appreciate your insight ~ thanks

That looks like partially dried blood around the eye area, maybe a scrape under the eye or on the wattle, hard to tell. Nothing in need of medical treatment. Is there wire around their enclosure or brooder big enough that they can partially put their heads through?

@rosemarythyme Thank you very much! I will go check along the run for any issues. I appreciate your time!

Yeah, it looks like she bruised herself up trying to stick her head into something. You can even see the tiny cuts on the comb.

How is it looking today? If it's bruising, I'd expect it to clear up pretty quickly.

@thecatumbrella Thanks for your response! I believe you are right, and I’m thinking it could be the little chick feeder. It is only on the left side of the face. So we’re going to check the run and change the feeder to something they don’t have to peck through.
I appreciate your input!
