Hi all, I have a 5 week old Golden Hamburg who started acting very lethargic since Tuesday. She eats, drinks and poops normal but there’s something off about her. She doesn’t seem to be roosting so she sleeps on the floor. She also doesn’t scratch and peck around like the others do. Tuesday was her first day outside and she was out for the whole. She was in a coop that had no heat and had lots of fresh air with a window so I guess she wasn’t really outside. Any ideas as to what happened to her or maybe how to liven her up?

Here are some pics of her

That was exactly what my little chick was (and still is a bit) doing. I separated her into her own private brooder to make sure everything was ok. I gave her moistened food with egg yolk in it and I put sugar and ACV into her water to boost her energy. I felt her crop to see if she had anything in it, made sure to CLOSELY monitor her poop for any signs of trouble... I basically babied her! She is still pretty Low key, but better by a whole lot.

I hope your little baby does better!

Okay sounds good, maybe I will do that for her and see if she can improve. I’ve never felt a chicks crop before, is just like a grown chickens crop?

Yeah basically... I was a bit confused at first, but I just gently felt it to see... It was pretty empty at first, but now that she is eating again it is a lot better!

Also don't separate her for too long since they are such social animals. Mine was only for 2 nights and she is back with the rest now. It was more just to see if she was ok!

I decided not to separate her, I took her out and gave her some water mixed with sugar and ACV and also gave her a bit of yogurt! She seemed to love the yogurt and perked up quite a bit when I put her back. I cleaned out there brooder just to be sure that that’s not a problem and now everyone is all cuddled up taking a nap :) I will check on her again soon and if she continues to be sluggish I will offer her hard boiled egg and some yogurt.

Also just some extra info, the brooder she is in has minimal heat offered since she is 5 weeks old and now longer needs the heat. Although there is another brooder right next to hers that has one week and two week old baby chicks so they have the heat lamp. The room is just laundry room sized so the it’s around 65-70 degrees in there, perfect for older chicks and the younger chicks. If anyone has any other question that might help to figure out what the problem might be please ask :)
