We ahave a almost 5 week old coachin bantam that has been crowing all morning..so cute!!..for the last 2 weeks, I have watched his comb grow more pronounced. He stands on his waterer in the brooder and crows. This is too funny. I love my babies!!!..I have 1 more coachin in with him that is a hen. 2 seabrights in another brooder right next to them. when he crows, they get real quiet and just stare at him...

1 of our 4 week old buff orps just started crowing yesterday... it's so pathetic, sounds like a rusty hinge combined with grinding of worn out brakes.

1 out of 20 so far... this is gonna get interesting, and loud... anyone got ear plugs you can send me?

we've got 41 4 week olds that we just moved out to their coop earlier this week, and then there's 15 blue orp eggs in the bator...

and all of ours stop too and just look in amazement like: "how in the world did you do that?!?!?!?!"

(we ordered 40, 20 bo and 20 fav, we got 21 of each. lost 1 bo, ended up with 12 bo roos and 8 bo pullets, and 9 fav roos and 12 fav pullets.. so yeah i guess it actually did work out to 50/50, but....)

I HOPE this is the only roo I have. I have 5 chickens all together. I rescued a meat hen who is doing well, so I decided to get 4 bantams. The bantams are in a chicken cabin, the meat hen in a converted rabbit hutch with run, because she does not roost. We want to add both runs and homes. Maybe build a connecting big run to both? Or buid a bigger coop. Have you seen the cabins? We baught it premade because I have no experience, just learning. Do you think that is big enough?

We built our coop from the ground up, 10 x 12, and I really didn't look at any of the pre-fab ones... I had enough of a heart attack at the 4 x 6 starting at $1295! we built ours for around $900

I think we are going to build a larger run and connect the 2 we have. Then we will build a bigger coop in September.
