Hello! Just wanted some thoughts on the sex of these two (pretty sure the other two are girls) Scarlet on the left has the biggest comb out of the bunch with a little bit of pink. Stormy on the right is the only EE with any pink in it's comb.
I ordered them from Meyer and they all SHOULD be girls, but you know how that goes. Scarlet was the meal maker so I've been tryng to figure out what she is. Thinking Production red?

Thanks!

Stormy in front, and Scarlet in back. Hard to see any pink in the photo.

Scarlet

To pink? Her waddles are pinkish but haven't really dropped.

Bottom Stormy, Middle Scarlet, top Bjork ;)

Ehhhh... Scarlet appears to be a roo (rooster) It's very obvious.. Some hatcheries have oopsy's now and then as you know.... :( and say, is Stormy a ameraucana cause I have a ameraucana that looks sooooo related! ;)

Some hens can be quite loud as well. Just something to be aware of. I have one Hamburg that thinks as soon as I lift the coffee pot in the morning she needs to let me know clear from the coop that she would like to be OUT NOW. It happens every day at about a quarter of five in the morning. Without fail she waits until I lift the coffee pot. The dogs have already been out and back in by then but that coffee pot is certainly her trigger.

Then there is the Blue Andalusian that must announce every time someone is thinking about laying an egg. SUPER loud. I can pick her voice out 4 blocks away.

Curious what makes you think it is a male?

It looks to be a production red and the females will have large combs. I do not see enough red in the comb or any feathering that would make me say male at this point. They are young but the feathering and comb do not look male for this breed IMHO.

Sigh... yeah I figured Scarlet(or maybe Scar!) was a roo. I was hoping that somehow he wasn't hahah.
Stormy looks like a hen though? She's an Easter Egger but they are pretty close to ameraucanas right?

I have read that and I hope you are right or that at least maybe there is a chance... I'll give it some time and give you all an update in a week or two. ;)

I would say Stormy is a female. The coloring is very evenly distributed. Males tend to be blotchy.

They come in pretty much any color too. Fun breed to have.
I would certainly wait to hear a crow before jumping to conclusions on the red.

Here are my two wildest colored EE just for fun and cause I like to show them off.

Both are laying green eggs now. The top bird is Victoria and her egg is actually pale green while the bottom pullet named Grandma lays a medium green egg.
