I've got 2 chicks from the farm store sold as ameracuana though they are likely Ee'S. they agree note five weeks old and I'm worried one might be a rooster. The white one is still mangy/scruffy looking while the brown one had feathered nicely. The white also hasa fatter and redder looking comb. And finally the white one had longer leg, neck and feet and acts more fiesty. The problem is, they came from the store and were sold as pullets. They ere professionally sexed so is out possible they were wrong?

The white one is a rooster. The red smuttiness on the wings is a dead giveaway, that is something only roosters tend to have. Vent sexing baby chicks has some degree of failure rate, so oopsies happen, sadly :(.

Half of our EEs from the feed store ended up being cockerels as well. It happens A LOT. I'm starting to think the hatcheries just throw them in a box and don't even try to sex them. The good news is that you can usually find a home for them if you can't keep Roos.

To ochochicas...Doubt it was the hatchery's fault......Most of the reputable hatcheries such as Cackle and McMurray are usually 90-95 % accurate....The store may have screwed up...Also, if you got just a few 2-4 etc...The error could have been in the sample size...Good Luck...

Thanks everyone. I suspected as much with how different he looked from the others.
