5 week old chicks meeting full grown flock for first time

I integrated them with an in coop brooder and a separate run inside the run. I’m really amazed at just 5 weeks they don’t seem to mind each other. The hens cared more about the food than the chicks. One chick even pecked at the rooster and it just shrugged it off.

Now to start it all over again with 17 more chicks that just hatched about a week ago.

 
Thanks for posting. I’m glad the integration went well for you. I’m using the same method as you and I’m about to integrate three of mine this weekend. Hope it goes as well for my chicks.
 
I’m sure it will go fine. The hens are 2yrs old I think.

It’s really unpredictable when a broody hen raises them. I had one that was great and protected 3 chicks just fine. Then 2 others that let the flock kill a couple of their chicks. That’s when I said enough of this broody hen mess and hatched my own. Integrating this way was a breeze.
