5-week old chicks... ok to move into coop yet?

Mine were out at 2 wks. without a heat lamp, with temps into the low 50s at night. I think you are right in thinking that more birds equals a warmer sleep, though. Mine have been free ranging for 2 wks. and are now 6 wks. old. Fully fledged and look like miniatures of my big gals. Don't you just love their little fluffy bodies?

yes, they are so cute, and growing fast! We were gone for four days and left them in the brooder box with an extra supply of food and water. I was worried about them while we were gone, but they were fine. I was shocked to see how much they had grown after only 4 days of not seeing them... gigantor chicks!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm going to try them overnight with the lamp in the hen house... I'll let you know how it goes!

I put mine in the coop at about 5 weeks I put their brooder in the coop for a few days with heat lamp at night. I put it on a timer so it would go off in the morn and on in the eves.

I assume you put them in their coop at night without food and water and door closed. Question is: do they have access to go in and out of their coop during the day?
