Hi all!

My boy whose prone to bumblefoot has it again so we’ve been to the vets and now have pain relief and clindamycin. This bumblefoot is so peculiar to me, usually it’s nice soft and pliable when he comes out of water but this bought is extremely tough and dry. Anyhoo, he started his medication about a day and a half ago, he’s shifting his weight forwards and his crop looks sagged on the right hand side. I have him his medication with peas this morning around 8 and when I massaged his crop around 2pm, 5 mins later he vomited water and peas from this morning. Would appreciate anyone’s advice and support please. ZODON CHEW TABS 1 & 1/4 TABLETS TWICE A DAY FOR 10 DAYS & MELOXIDYL 1.5MG 0.8 MLS TWICE DAILY. Thank you as always 🦆

He’s just thrown up another two times back to back. First time was just pure water, second time was partially digested peas which I’m assuming is the remainder from this morning, any help? 😭

When I looked up this drug one of the side effects was throwing up. I'd contact the vet he may want to change this antibiotic to another

Hi Lydia!

Thanks so much for replying. I contacted the vets and they’re in surgery at the moment but are going to call me back, he has had clindamycin before for bumblefoot but never vomited with it. He gorged himself on water and brought up more peas, this time partially digested and then brought some grit up too? Do I withhold water from him or should I still give him access to water? I’ve taken away his food.

Maybe until you hear from the vet just offer him water ever so often. Then let them advise you. I wouldn't make him go cold turkey on the water.

post back once you hear what they advise please.
Okay I’m here now they’re giving me different antibiotics for him but my question now is how on earth do I get him to take it as I usually add it onto peas and he wolfs it down. Is it okay to add it to his water? Before he vomited I put some sweetcorn down and he did not want it at all, so I keep food away from him all night?
