5 week old Cochin Sneezing What would you do. Cull It?

Hi I dont know what to do I have 23 5 week old bantam chicks I notice just 1 is sneezing every 10 minutes or so. No running nose eyes look fine poop is normal.What should I do seperate it from the rest? Clean out all the water and feeder Cull It? What meds do I give it? i dont want the rest to get sick

I would separate it. It could be nothing, or it could develop into something. If it does, you may want to cull.

if your going with the antibiotics I would give neomycin
1 tsp per gasllon of water
as it is a respiratory disease
also this is what I would do if it was me

seperate the sick one and maybe cull it
then disinfect the feeders and waterers
doing the sick chick chores last and use clorox on the shoes so you don't carry it back to the healthy birds

and give the rest of the chicks the neomycin in their water for 5-7 days
see what the pkg says
if figuring the amt do this
the pkg generally says for say 100 gallonsay 16 ozs
then divide the ozs by the gallons and in this instant it would be
100 divided by 16 is = to 6.3/4 ozs to a gallon

now that will not be what neomycin says but you will know how to figure the ozs to a gallon of water

with that said here is what I would do also


clean your hands and clothes and shoes with clorox as you put clorox in a shallow tray and step your shoes ihnto it
thus you will not carry it back to the other sheds

If you have Oxine use it to spray every thid liberally
like waterers and feeders as that is where the germs are

you will want to put the vetrx on the sick birds head and under the wings and 1 tsp of vetrx in the water
also put 2 tbsp of ACV in the water for healthy gut flora
and feed this
wet mash to the healthy and sick chicks

here is what I would do also
I would give the
wet mash probiotic with apple sauce

1 qt of dry crumbles
1 qt of milk
1 cup of yoguart
1 cup of applesauce put on top of amt fed to chickens as they will smell it and like the wet mash
also I would put Vit E in the mix also
using the figure of 1000mg cutting end off and adding to wet mash before applesauce
then say for the 25 birds give them 21 vit E 1000mg a day in wet mash

Use this figure for all thechickens

the vit E is very important to the gut flora also
