First time chicken keeper here. I saw this on one of my 5 week old barred rock chicks. Hard to see in the pics but the middle left (chicken’s left) toe was bleeding a bit.

I cleaned with surgical soap and applied stop pick so hopefully nobody pecks at them, but is there anything else I should do? Anything I should be worried about or keep an eye on?

Could the chick be pecking it’s own toes because of something irritating them? Or is it one of the others doing it? The skin on the legs and feet looks a bit dry and flaky. I would be tempted to apply some antibiotic ointment, coconut oil or vaseline to the legs and feet and rub it in, every 3 days.

Thank you for your response. I thought the legs looked a little flaky, too, but I’m new to this so I wasn’t sure. I live in Alberta, Canada, a very very dry part of the world. I’ll give those legs some lovin’!
