They're not. Don't feed the trolls.

The only way to stop a troll is to find a bigger troll to troll the original troll while convincing the rest of the forum to partake in ignoring the original troll whilst burning copious amounts of sage and wheatgrass as an offering to Bak Bak, the goddess of winged creatures. What this will accomplish is forcing the original troll into a stasis like state where they will suffer from feelings of ineffectiveness, incompetence, and boredom. At this point with his guard down, Bak Bak will gain in strength from the offering and take advantage of the troll’s dropped guard to banish him to the nether-realm called <some other forum>.

Depends on the troll. Some of them are actually funny.
