5 week old pullet with facial swelling

Her swelling is not any worse. My concern level is going down.

They live in this. I am not sure what it is made out of but it has housed many chickens temporarily before, and I have little reason to believe her swelling is related.

I could be MG, yes, I said it. It could be a number of things though.
If it was MG or another respiratory disease, can they get swelling anywhere on their face? It isn’t in the location of the infraorbital sinus like I’d expect if it we’re respitory, but rather behind their eye.

I was going to take these birds this weekend, so am concerned about possible illnesses… however it does seem usual that this would be a respiratory disease with the swelling behind the eye on the cheek, and no other symptoms? Maybe?

Me and my knowledgeable brain say no. But let's see what Wyorp says.

Her "swelling" hasn't changed beyond going down a little.

It's hard to know what's causing the swelling.
Respiratory illness is something that comes mind.

As for taking birds, no matter from whom or where, if there's something going on that causes you to take pause, then pass them up - or that's what I would do.

Again, no one can say definite one way or another unless there's some testing done.

If you do take them, quarantine.

Can respiratory illnesses cause swelling on other places other than the upper nasal cavity and the infraorbital sinus?

Get them tested before getting them. This place will test:

That would take too much time, regretfully.
But I am not concerned.
She is showing basically nothing at all. If i was seeing her for the first time i wouldn’t say there was anything at all.
I do believe she is fine.
