5 weeks ago, I purchased four speckled sussex chicks, sexed as pullets, that came from Meyer. Two are very normal looking as far as feathering and size/growth. Two were very, very small as day olds with really small/short wing feathers. They're currently feathering very, very slowly, are significantly smaller and have literally no tail. Boys? or perhaps just runty? Any ideas at this point? I took these pictures this morning of the two small ones.

Any news on these chicks? My Speckled Sussex looked a lot like yours at 5 weeks. At 8 weeks now, Agatha's head has finally feathered in, and her tail is barely long enough to see past her wings. I have a mixed-breed flock, and she is the smallest, and the slowest to feather. Have yours expressed as hens or roos yet?

I'm curious how these have turned out for you, too. I also bought 4 chicks from the local feed store (that orders from Mt Healthy) that were supposed to be Speckled Sussex. 2 of them passed away.. The 2 I have left look exactly like your picture. I'm concerned for them because they are still so tiny. They look like 3-4 week old chicks at about 8 weeks. The Tetra Tints and Amber Links I have in with them are the same age and are at least twice, if not 3x, their size. Maybe I just got "lucky" and am left with 2 slow-growing dudes.
