5 weeks old and 1st egg

We are still at 1 egg a day the last 4 days. What is odd is that the 4 eggs have two very different color patterns, so I wonder if two girls are taking turns laying. Do hens have specific color patterns, or is it just random?

Hi guys There is about 13 hours of daylight and fairly warm weather. My quails are eating turkey crumbs with a quail mix and grit and calcium supliments etc. They live in a rabbit hutch about 5ft long. However they spend most there day inside the shaded part so they do not get much light. Is this normal? Is this what is affecting them if so how do I get them to come out more. They only come out for food and a drink

hello, i would of thought that would be ok for them, i know a lot of people have them in cages.
i have just bought an eglu and they absolutely love it, they lie in the sun spread out, i thought one was dead but she was just asleep.
if you add conifer branches out in the run they will sit out under the branches, they really love it, also it will encourage them to come out in the run area a bit more and feel safe.

thank you Dani, i have now got one.
my hubby is going to make another door for the eglu as i have to keep getting inside it to fetch there sand box.
they are laying in the house part at the moment so that makes it easier on collecting the eggs.

hello, i think the little girl might be stressed with having two boys chasing her. i would get some more girls and just keep one boy.

i have had a few different colours also, i think that they are still young, i had one with no pattern on it at all, just a cream colour.

thats the plan!
i have some (ummm, 50) eggs in my bator and just waiting for them to hatch
and i was hoping to not have to process 1, lol, and i am trying to decide which boy to keep
i have a brown pair and a white boy
he white guy (taters) got beat up and came to live inside for a couple weeks while his head healed
the brown boy (gravy) makes a lot of noise
just gotta choose

Mine laid 3 eggs in an igloo and one in the tunnel today they like making me search for them ! X my own egg hunt everyday ! X
