5 wk hatchery sexed EEs. Are they pullets? **New Pics and Suspicions**

Tweety is a boy: can tell by the coloring.

If you bought from a hatchery, I would request a refund on him. They are supposed to sex accurately at 80%, I think. You only got 66% accuracy.....

Ugh. We're not keeping roos! I'm going to wait til I hear her (him?) crow until she goes. Lovely bird. Out of our 11 chicks, that makes 5 roos. ugh.

Guess that means we can get more chicks.

really I think it's difficult to say at this point. some girls are more feisty than others and act rooish. I would wait until you get a crow or an egg. yes that takes forever! but it is the best confirmation you can get!

and if Tweety is a roo, he will probably be quite calm. you already said how friendly it is. my EE roo, is calm compaired to my RIR roo that definitely wasn't. lol Sam (my ee roo in my avatar) would rather keep to the girls than be around me. but will let me hold him (if I can catch him lol)

not a bad choice of roo, if you have one

good luck!

Tweety looks like my EE pullet that was POL and I was still convinced she was a rooster! It was only until my husband came in the house and informed me that my "rooster" just laid an egg did I believe it!

Like Tweety she was the biggest of the bunch, HUGE legs and her comb was a little pinkish around 5-6 wks old. I'd wait if I were you.

With my "suspicious" EE's my policy is "you crow you go"...until then I'm keeping em!

So, do only the roos have the three rows in the pea comb?
I'm having the same issue. I have four EEs that are six weeks only. I have two that have very nice coloring, but I think those are the two roos. One is silver similar to yours and the other is a deep red with black neck and tail feathers with red lacing. We will probably keep that one even if it is a roo.

I would wait to call them roos or pullets until they are at least 15 weeks. Mine kept me guessing until about then. At about 15 weeks they might start to get there saddle and hackle feathers. EE coloration can play tricks on your eyes making you think that the feathers are pointed when it is just the lacing making them look pointed. EE are slow to mature so throwing in the towel early you might regret it.
