50 Pictures of my Flock-Winter-Spring Edition!

As soon as I have the time to spend with the hennies. I got distracted with Frou-frou today, but I might have a pic or two from that experience to add to my checklist. ;)

Ruby's a cute name, but I can see what you mean about not quite fitting. Something will come to you eventually. :)

Like... Martha...? XD

We had oatmeal for breakfast this morning, and I did not finish all of mine, so it went to the chickens, therefore giving me the perfect opportunity to get some pics to fill my themes.

First, I call the chickens out of the barn. They come running, swarming all around, so I get a picture of...

28. a chicken swarm

...They come running up to see what I've got...

I put the oatmeal down on the ground, and snapped some hopeless pictures of

32. a warm winter snack

...they gulp up the oatmeal...

...the ameracauna sisters dominate the bowl...

...all you can hear is a light, hollow "plink" as they peck the oatmeal from the bowl...

...It's so yummy, but they need to pause for a breath...

I go into the barn to see if we have any eggs. That was when I found

48. loose feathers

...This looks like one of Brewster's tail feathers...

...this is definitely one of Reba, the New Hampshire Red's, feathers...

After spotting loose feathers, and photographing them, I headed to a corner of the barn where I knew the chickens laid there eggs, and there I spotted

4. a broody glare

...my broody queen, Isabelle, is always trying to hatch eggs. Every time she sets up a little nest, and starts sitting on eggs, I have to kick her off it again. Well, I sent her on her way again and gathered the eggs.

I went back into the run to get the bowl and got a picture of

...49. evidence...

...evidence that the chickens enjoyed the oatmeal, that is...

(BTW, yes, I edited my thread again! This is gonna have to be a winter-spring edition because I'm afraid this won't last into summer

The photos did not end in #post 14! Mom gave me a pot of old leftover Alfredo noodles. The thought occurred to me that the chickens have never had Alfredo noodles---or any kind of noodles, to be honest!--- so I took the noodles and my camera, and went off to the chicken coop. But, being the forgetful soul that I am, I forgot my memory card. I had to run back to get, and by the time I got back, I couldn't get hardly any pictures of

33. a first-time snack

...There were a few noodles left, and Sunshine and Zipper were more than happy to pose with the noodles...

...Zipper loses interest in the noodles, and leaves Sunshine with them... "Oh, well. More for me, I guess!"...
