Today was a nice enough day that I decided to let the chooks out for some free-range time, which, of course, allowed me to get many shots of
12. the first free-range of the year!
...The doors are opened... They run out...
...Some procrastinate...
...Some just lay around...
...Splash and his hens enjoy the grass...
...While Queenie and Gypsy pop over to the grow out pen to tease the teenagers...
...Brewster stays by his ladies...
Sunshine and Rita decide to go off to a secluded area...
...Einsteina and Sparkle enjoy the pleasure of being away from the coop...
...Rita finds Queenie and Sunshine..
...these naughty hens are poking fun at the teenagers! just look at that tiny comb! Just dreadful!" And those ugly, scraggly first-feathers!"...
...Brewster leads his ladies away to another area... "Come along, now."...
...Some are just happy to browse through the overgrowth by the ditch...
...Splash and his ladies enjoy the overgrowth... "Ooh, look, a cricket! How yummy!"...

So, I haven't put up pictures in this thread in ages, and that's too bad, but, today, I got pictures of

...*Plop!* and there it is... all wet... don't mind the eggs around it...
...And, the lovely lady who laid it... she was quite tired. She actually stood there, with me recording her, for five minutes. Then, she just got up and walked away. She didn't even sing the egg song, which is exactly what I was trying to get a recording of...

I think they'd be the perfect breed for people who would get in trouble for having chickens. Seriously!
