I have ten chicks. We will probably end up with 6-8 since some will be roos and our town only allows females. Is a 51x51 coop size large enough? We found one we like that is reasonably priced, but not sure if thats large enough?

Probably not.
Feet, inches, cm...? If in cm or inches, no. Inches gives you room for 4 chickens, cm gives you room for one.
Ditto Dat^^^!

It may depend on your climate and if your run is weather and predator proof.

Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

51 inches! And its 6 feet tall. I live in Livermore, California. Our yard is large. I would like them to roam around outside of the coop and run only while I am home, since we have 12 neighborhood cats.

Yep, it’s too small for more than 4 chickens. For a max of 7-8 chickens (assuming you do have cockerels to rehome like you said you may), I wouldn’t go any smaller than 6x5ft. Your run should give 10sqft per bird, so 8x10 is a good size to aim for.

Newbie here as well. Have had chickens since Dec but need to build a them a coop and finish their run, looking for advice also. I am looking at building a 4'x8' coop with a 10'x30' run for a flock of no more than 6 hens for egg laying. Based on what I am reading here that should be big enough for that size flock, correct?

PS - We let them out during the day when we are home.
